DentalAssist.ai Is Coming to Cloud 9 by Planet DDS
DentalAssist.ai has partnered with Planet DDS to build a direct integration with Cloud 9, the practice management platform behind multi-location orthodontic and specialty groups across North America.
Why orthodontics is a different front-desk problem
General dentistry runs on episodic visits. Orthodontics doesn’t. A single treatment plan can run eighteen months to three years, and across that span one patient generates dozens of touchpoints — progress appointments, adjustments, reschedules, questions about wear time and payment plans.
The result is a front desk under continuous pressure, where routine scheduling traffic competes directly with the call that actually grows the practice: the new patient enquiry. That enquiry is also the least forgiving. A parent researching treatment for their child is usually calling several practices in an afternoon. If the phone rings out, they don’t leave a voicemail and wait, they call the next name on the list.
The problem multiplies across locations
For a single-site practice, front-desk pressure is a staffing question. For a growing group it becomes a structural one. Each new location adds its own call volume and its own coverage gaps, but hiring doesn’t scale in step — and the practices least able to absorb the load are often the newest additions still finding their footing.
Cloud 9 is the platform a significant share of multi-location orthodontic and specialty groups run on. Building directly into it means DentalAssist.ai can cover every location in a group on the system they already use, rather than asking each site to adopt something new.
What the integration does
DentalAssist.ai answers a practice’s calls around the clock — new patient enquiries, scheduling, and the routine questions that consume front-desk time — and this integration connects that directly to Cloud 9.
Direct is the operative word. Most connections between an AI front desk and a practice management system route through a third-party aggregator, which adds a layer, adds latency, and adds another vendor relationship to manage. Building directly with Planet DDS removes it.
What’s next
DentalAssist.ai is completing this integration through Planet DDS’s partner onboarding process. We’ll share more as it goes live, including at the Greater New York Dental Meeting this November where our team will be exhibiting.
